Medallion Capital is seeking a senior investment professional with a proven track record of sourcing, underwriting, and managing successful investments who meets, or is capable of meeting, the SBA’s qualifications for an SBIC Qualified Principal.

This is an opportunity to join an experienced team and be involved across the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and underwriting to closing and working with portfolio companies. We are looking for someone who enjoys investing in small and lower-middle-market businesses and building lasting relationships with business owners, management teams, and sponsors. The role offers significant autonomy, a meaningful voice in investment decisions, and the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of an established investment platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, business owners, lenders, and intermediaries to generate investment opportunities.
• Lead the evaluation, underwriting, due diligence, structuring, and execution of debt and equity investments.
• Present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee and play an active role in investment decisions.
• Work closely with portfolio companies and sponsors throughout the investment period.
• Support the firm's ongoing compliance with SBA and SBIC requirements.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in mezzanine investing, private credit, private equity, or a related investment discipline.
• Proven track record sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and managing investments in small and lower-middle-market businesses.
• SBIC experience or familiarity with SBA regulations is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional designation is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

As a corporate investment platform, our compensation structure includes annual incentive compensation in lieu of carried interest. Compensation will reflect the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and investment track record.

Location 

This position may be based in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office or remotely within the United States.
