Oxer Capital is seeking to add a full-time Analyst/Associate to join our team in support of growth. This person will play a significant role in supporting senior investment professionals and portfolio company management teams across all stages of Oxer’s investment process. The position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with strong analytical and communication skills interested in a career in the private equity industry.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Investment Evaluation – Identify, screen, and evaluate new investment opportunities by reviewing sponsors’ memorandums, drafting initial due diligence questions and information request lists, and understanding issues related to the investment decision-making process and Oxer’s investment criteria.
  • Transaction Structuring – Utilize complex models in Excel to evaluate financial scenarios and analyze financial statements to determine creditworthiness and return profile of a business/opportunity.
  • Investment Analysis – Conduct business due diligence and analyses (analyze, organize, and visually represent data to support investment underwriting) and prepare memorandums to communicate key thesis and risks/mitigants to investment committee.
  • Industry & Market Research – Conduct industry research, market analysis, and calls with subject matter experts to evaluate growth prospects, understand industry-specific nuances, and competitive dynamics.
  • Portfolio Management – Work with internal staff to track portfolio company performance, financial reporting, and complete valuations; assist team members in preparing Fund reporting and communications.
  • Key Participant – Participate in meetings with Oxer Investment Committee, portfolio company management teams, financing sources, M&A intermediaries, and investors.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or MBA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 2 – 4 years of relevant work experience in private credit, mezzanine finance, valuation services, investment banking, commercial banking, accounting, or similar roles.
  • Analytical – Proficiency in financial statement analysis, modeling, accounting principles, and valuation.
  • Business Intuition & Critical Thinking – Insight and understanding of business concepts with ability to assess, weigh, and mitigate risks.
  • Efficient Time Management – Manage multiple workstreams concurrently and make effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Work Ethic – Self-motivated, proactive, and ability to work both independently and on small, dedicated teams.
  • Effective Communication & Professionalism – Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to dialogue with senior management and communicate effectively with both team member and Oxer stakeholders. Ability to represent Oxer in a confident, professional manner.

About Oxer Capital

Oxer Capital is a lower middle market direct investing firm organized as a small business investment company (“SBIC”) private equity fund manager. Oxer is currently managing three active Funds with over $500 million of capital under management and is raising its 4th Fund in 2025. Our investment focus is to seek $3-12 million mezzanine and equity investments to support growth initiatives, generational transfers, management buyouts, and leveraged buyouts. Our team has decades of collective experience investing in and advising lower middle market companies. We seek to invest in companies with $10-100 million in revenues throughout the Great Lakes region and adjacent states operating in a variety of basic industries. The targeted capital raise for Fund IV is $225 -$275 million.
