Position Overview:
Pine Street Capital Partners is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate with strong analytical skills, a superior work ethic and attitude, and a track record of success professionally and academically. The role represents an opportunity to take on significant responsibilities and become a key member of the Pine Street Capital Partners team. The Associate/Senior Associate will support the three managing partners and other members of the team in all aspects related to reviewing investment opportunities, performing due diligence on potential investments, working with and monitoring portfolio companies, and undertaking a variety of other projects as needed. We are a small team, and this position has the opportunity to make a significant impact.
Firm Overview:
Pine Street Capital Partners, with offices in Albany, NY, and Wellesley, MA, provides mezzanine debt and equity capital to lower middle market companies throughout the United States. Founded in 2004, Pine Street has invested three previous funds and is in the process of raising Pine Street Capital Partners IV. Since our founding, we have invested in over 50 portfolio companies and have successfully worked with the management teams of those companies and our co-investors to build value and generate returns for our investors. Our preferred investment size ranges from $5 million to $15 million.
Job Skills and Abilities:

Responsibilities:
New Investments (40% - 60%): Assist in the generation, screening, and tracking of new investment opportunities. Draft pre-screen memoranda for initial evaluation. Assist in creating investment structures, transaction terms, and terms sheets. Assist with business and industry due diligence efforts. Handle all financial modeling requirements in support of the investment decision making process. Lead preparation for on-site diligence meetings and participate in meetings. Draft Investment Committee memoranda and presentations for consideration and approval by the Investment Committee. Assist in legal documentation process and closing process. Handle internal post-closing items.
Portfolio Management (20% – 30%): Analyze financial statements of portfolio investments and summarize key metrics. Draft quarterly portfolio company valuation reports. Update risk rating and investment valuation analyses based on financial statements and valuation indicators. Participate in follow-on investments, amendments, and/or restructurings of portfolio investments. Update other internal portfolio company reporting metrics.
General Administration (10% - 20%): Assist partners and, in select cases, lead general administrative activities (e.g., marketing, CRM database, annual investor presentation, SBA reporting).
Other Projects (5% - 10%): To include tasks as assigned, including investor analyses, fund raising, and other reporting.
Requirements:
- BS/BA degree; MBA, CPA, advanced education/degree/certification and/or formal credit training considered a plus.
- Demonstrated academic excellence.
- 1 – 2 years (Associate) or 2 – 4 years (Sr. Associate) of experience in mezzanine debt investing or a related field (e.g., investment banking, leverage finance, accounting, hedge fund, PE/VC fund, corporate banking).
- Able to work both individually and in a group, self-starter, team player, and enthusiastic to learn and develop within the position.
